FUNDACION PANIAMOR INVITES ADOLESCENTS TO A REGIONAL COMPETITION ON A SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE USE OF THE INTERNET

  • The competition on "Yes to Techonology, if you get connected with Responsability", will be carried out simultaneously in Costa Rica, Argentina, Paraguay, Venezuela, Brazil and Mexico.
  • This initiative goes hand in hand with ECPAT International's fight against commercial sexual exploitation.

Within the framework of the Network on Safe and Responsible Use of Information and Communication Technologies, Fundacion Paniamor invites to a regional video competition so that adolescents can share their experiences with the Internet. The competition consists of a video through which adolescentes between 12 and 18 years of age narrate their experiences while using the Internet and other technologies in interaction with other people and groups.

The competition aims to promote adolescent participation and their critical thoughts on a safe and responsible use of Information and Communications Technologies.

The challenge is to present the topic of virtual security that is confronted by  adolescents through their own experiences.

The protection of the cyberspace as means of socialization is preliminary in this agenda as adolescents are currently changing their neighborhood's corner to meet in virtual space (of various social networks such as Facebook, MySpace or Hi5).

The Ministry of Public Education, the Vice Ministry of Youth, the Costa Rican Filmproduction Center, Radiografica Costarricense SA and the Ministry of Science and Technology promote this initiative. VMLatino, the 40 Principales and CCM Cinemas sponsor the competition. RedCultura supports this activity.
