FUNDACION PANIAMOR INITIATES SENSIBILIZATION PROCESS AND PROMOTION OF
LAW ON PHYSICAL PUNISHMENT AND HUMILIATING TREATMENT WITH SUPPORT FROM
THE NATIONAL PATRONAGE OF INFANCY (PATRONATO NATIONAL DE LA INFANCIA,
PANI)
- On the 14th
of September in collaboration with the local protection systems of
region San Jose, a process was initiated to eradicate physical
punishment as well as humiliating treatment within families: the
project: “Educate with Love”.
The process was
initiated on the 14th of September with the participation of community
leaders, fathers and mothers organized throughout meetings on the
protection of childhood and adolescence within the region of San Jose.
The process is designed for working with mothers and fathers as well as
with community leaders, with the parents in order to raise awareness
about the need to change parenting patterns by using learning
strategies wich make them realize that physical punishment against them
did not work out as method to discipline as well as to reflect on
positive parenting forms. Furthermore while working with community
leaders it is aspired that once they have been made aware of and
trained on the same topic, they can develop a process of shared
learning in which they share with other fathers and mothers their
experiences.
As an outcome of these workshops community leaders acquire skills to develop and share in workshops within their communities.
The meeting's purpose is to contemplate for 2010 the supervision of each process initiated by the community leaders.
