PEACE STARTS WITH ONESELF
- The activity gathers 200 participants of 38 countries, pursuing to establish a culture of peace.
- Fundacion Paniamor has its own unique seal on the board of peace projects.
With
the idea of promoting a culture of peace within the different
countries, Costa Rica will host the Sixth Conference of the Global
Alliance for Ministries and Departments of Peace “Construyendo puentes
de paz” (“Building Bridges of Peace”) from the 17th until the 21st of
September.
The activities’ objective is to create relationships, share experiences and learn from nations and organizations.
The Costa Rican Minister for Justice and Peace, Hernando Paris,
appointed as outstanding task of the Conference, to emphasize, that
peace is personal and reflects on the community, and as principal
benefit to Costa Rica that its population appropriates and internalizes
the Concept of Peace and carries it into daily life.
This is the first summit in the Global Alliance in which the host is a
national government and the initiative is linked to the recent approval
by the Legislative Assembly of the Ministry of Justice and Peace (name
henceforth take the Ministry Justice and Grace).
Costa Rica joins Nepal and the Solomon Islands in being the third
country worldwide to establish a governmental infrastructure for peace
and the first to do it without the existence of an armed conflict.
PANIAMOR AND PEACE.
Beside the summits’ commitment to peace promotion, as part of a
directory, Fundación Paniamor launched the definition of best practice
of two of its projects being in execution. Among the projects
performing are: Youth Zone Model (Agenda of the Community) and Educate
with No Punishment.
The opening ceremony will include representatives of government and
various ministries and will be realized in the National Auditorium of
the Childrens’ Museum, next Thursday, September the 17th at 7 p.m.
On September 18, Costa Rica will have a strong presence in the summit,
scheduled to address the issue of Cooperation for Peace, between
government and civil society. The closing ceremony will be held on
Monday, September 21 at 7:30 pm in the National Theater.
The summit involves 38 countries, both members of the Global Alliance and guests.
Attendees include Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Democratic Republic of
Congo, Denmark, Ecuador, Japan, Kenya, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Ivory
Coast, Mexico and Nepal. As well as representatives of the Netherlands,
New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Romania, Rwanda, Senegal,
South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Uganda, UK and USA.
